A housebuilder behind a number of new homes developments across Wiltshire donated £80,877 to local good causes last year.
Each year Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, whose projects include Orchards Rise in Wichelstowe, provides funding for charities and organisations across the region as part of its commitment to create positive legacies in the communities where it builds.
Prospect Hospice in Wroughton was one charity to have benefitted from the housebuilder’s support in 2024. It has been the sole provider of end-of-life care for people across communities in north east Wiltshire including Swindon, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett, Fairford and Lechlade in Gloucestershire since 1980.
Prospect Hospice CEO Jeremy Lune said: “The charity only exists because of the generosity and support from our local community. Our funding from the NHS hasn’t risen in ten years, while everything has become more expensive.
"Prices have risen fast over the last few years, the cost of medical care is climbing and the price of energy to power our equipment has rocketed. It means that while our inpatient unit has room to look after 12 people, we can only afford to look after six. And the hardest part is that more people than ever need our care.
“The donation from Barratt David Wilson Homes South West means the world to all hospice staff and volunteers who understand the need for our services and support. The funding will help us continue to provide outstanding care and support to local people whenever and wherever they need it – whether that’s at the hospice or in their homes.”

Every month, each Barratt David Wilson Homes division can donate £1,500 to a local concern that works to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.
It Wichelstowe project, with Barratt Homes Bristol in partnership with Swindon Borough Council, is one of the largest local authority joint venture agreements in the country.
It will deliver 3,000 new homes over 20 years, along with new schools and community facilities. The 250-hectare site on the southern edge of Swindon will include extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
