Regional education recruitment agency Class People have spent the summer fundraising in aid of Action for Charity: Women V Cancer.

Lynis Bassett, CEO of Class People, is taking part in a women-only bike ride across India next year for the cancer charity; challenging herself and helping to take positive action against breast, ovarian and cervical cancers.

The intense 450km cycle will be over the course of 5 days, on and off road, where the group will experience rural India at its most raw and colourful.

As well as training, Lynis will need to raise money to support the work of the Women V Cancer charities, which include Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. She is therefore asking friends, colleagues, local people and businesses in helping raise money for the cause.

Class People, who have offices in Swindon, held a variety of events throughout August to help raise funds for the charity. From bake sales and bike rides, to The Cotswolds Creative Market, the team pulled out all the stops over the summer break to bring in the support and donations for this important cause.

Each member of the team was given £10 to turn into profit through fundraising activities, dedicating one to two days of work time to raise money. The events proved to be a roaring success, raising a total of £989 for the Women V Cancer.

Lynis Bassett explains: “I have been motivated to step out of my comfort zone and do my bit to support Action for Charity after being inspired by their dedication and work in helping to improve survival rates for women suffering from cancer.”

No strangers to charity work, Class People have previously taken part in charity bike rides, bake sales and raffles to raise money for the likes of MIND, Red Nose Day and Children In Need in the past, and will be working hard throughout the next 12 months to continue fundraising for Action for Charity.

Lynis continues: “By inviting the rest of the Class People team to join me in fundraising over the summer break, there was a stronger chance that together we will not only help raise a significant amount of money for the charity, we will also be raising vital awareness.”

Previous Women V Cancer cycle challenges have raised over £9million for the three cancer charities, and brings together women of all ages and different walks of life to come together to challenge themselves for a great cause.
