Officers have today been granted a partial closure order for an address in the Railway Village, Swindon.

The order was sought for an address in London Road following reports from local residents regarding concerns around drug dealing and proactive visits from the local officers.

It means that anyone other than the resident and listed members of their family are prevented from entering the property. By doing so they may be committing an offence and may be arrested.

Neighbourhood officer for the Railway Village, PC Nick Finning, said: “This is now one of three closure orders currently in place in the Railway Village.

“This type of order can be put in place to disrupt, deter and prevent drugs gangs and dangerous individuals exploiting vulnerable members of our society.  We will continue to put pressure on those individuals who cause such misery to those living nearby and residents can rest assured we take their concerns seriously.

“We have worked closely with the council on this order who provided evidence in its favour and are increasingly putting new measures in place to follow up with the occupiers once an order is granted.

“I encourage anyone with information they think the police need to know to call in to us, as without this information and reports from residents, getting orders such as these is much harder.”

Last year Wiltshire Police put in place over 30 orders across the county.
