Crest Nicholson’s Tadpole Garden Village celebrates success at national awards

One of Swindon's largest residential developments has been awarded 'Best Housing Scheme' at a national awards ceremony.

Award-winning developer Crest Nicholson is celebrating success after its Tadpole Garden Village development in Swindon was named ‘Best Housing Scheme (500 homes or more)’ at the Planning Awards. The awards, that recognise excellence in UK housebuilding planning and placemaking, took place in London on Wednesday 6^th of June. The Planning Awards are held annually, and Tadpole Garden Village overcame competition from across the country to be named winner of the ‘Best Housing Scheme’ award. Tadpole Garden Village was awarded the accolade for its positive impact on its surrounding environment, and the economic and social well-being it provides its local surroundings. The development has been built with 21^st Century Garden Village principles in mind, to provide not only housing but also a modern, vibrant community. Once complete, the development will deliver 1,855 homes to suit a range of home owners, from first time buyers to larger family homes. Crest Nicholson is investing £19.3m in the local area in order to provide a host of assets to improve the wellbeing of the community, including a new primary and secondary schools, a community centre, sports pitches, and 16 children’s play areas. The awards’ judges praised the ‘excellent integration of landscape and public areas’, the ‘wide range of community facilities’, and the ‘commendable proportion of affordable housing’ on offer at Tadpole Garden Village. Crest Nicholson received further recognition at the ceremony, as its Monksmoor Park development in Daventry, Northamptonshire, was awarded the ‘Highly Commended’ accolade in the ‘Best Housing Scheme (500 or more)’ category.
