Three men have been arrested following some proactive patrols carried out in Swindon last night.

At approximately 10.30pm yesterday (11/10),  officers patrolling the Drove Road area of town noticed some suspicious activity around an address.

They subsequently arrested an 18-year-old local man on suspicion of burglary and while searching the flat found a large quantity of class A drugs, cannabis and weapons strewn around the premises.

Two other men were located inside the address - one who was found hiding in a wardrobe.

A 22-year-old local man and a 23-year-old local man were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs drugs (PWITS).

All three are currently in custody.

A stolen bike was also recovered from the property.

Sgt Nigel Kinderman said:  "Our officers are constantly on the look-out for suspicious activity and on this occasion were successful in disrupting a drug dealing operation.

"In the process we have also taken some more weapons out of circulation.

"Drug dealing is always linked to other crime and we often find stolen property and weapons at the same time.

"The haul of weapons and drugs was particularly large - but I want to reassure the general public that this an exception rather than the rule and generally Swindon is a safe place to live in.

"An incident like this also sends the message that we are listening to local people and we will act on any information you give us.

"Please contact us on 101 if you suspect anyone dealing in drugs or carrying out any sort of criminality in your area."
