Dates set for Swindon's Christmas Lantern Parade

Swindon Town Centre will be all in a-glow on Sunday 20th November, as inSwindon host a magical Christmas Lantern Parade, led by our fabulous illuminated Snow Birds, the Mayor of Swindon, Miss England Tourism, Jack Frost and the Ice Maiden on Stilts.

Families, community groups, schools and colleges are being invited from across the Borough of Swindon to take part in the Spectacular ‘Christmas Festival of Light Parade’ celebrations. You can get creative by making your own lanterns or our free workshop below.

Local artists are also being invited to create large scale illuminated lantern sculptures and more traditional hand carried lanterns to bring along.

The procession will begin outside the Town Hall in Regent Circus at 3.50pm, then proceeding along Regent Street, Canal Walk and finishing at Wharf Green at 4:15pm where there will be an exclusive performance from X-Factor star finalist Jay James on the Wharf Green main stage for our amazing finale! 

Di Powell inSwindon BID Manager said: “This year’s Lantern Parade is what Swindon’s Enchanted Christmas is all about! Everyone coming together to light-up the town centre and celebrate the start of the festive season.

Get involved: If you need a helping hand with your creations why not come along to one of our FREE Lantern Making Workshop, all the materials are provided, all you need to bring is imagination. The Lantern making workshop will take place on Sunday 20 November, 12.30am – 3.30pm. Location TBC

Please note: Only use LED lights. No naked flames permitted as part of the Christmas Festival of Light Parade.
