The National Self Build and Renovation Centre, based near Junction 16 in West Swindon, are gearing up for their big January show by inviting independent energy efficient homes expert David Hilton to offer advice to the prospective self builder.

David is an independent authority on energy efficient homes and heating systems and can offer advice and expertise on the best building fabrics, energy recovery systems, renewable and conventional heating systems that are appropriate to your project, lifestyle and budget, according to NSBRC.

David will be hosting a guided tour of the NSBRC Renovation House, a full scale mocked up home within the centre which showcases a variety of house building and renovation options. With a focus on energy efficiency, David will be touring the house at 1pm each day and will also be providing a free Heat & Energy Course taster (times vary) as well as 1:2:1 consultations.

David Hilton said: "This show is a great place to get independent advice from professionals on a self build or renovation project. What sets the NSBRC show apart is its focus on education and providing facts/figures without a sales pitch. There are a range of talks relevant to people taking on, or in the middle of, a project.

"Most people want to know how to get best value from the eco components of their new home. To help achieve this it's vital to understand how people want to live in their home and the goals they have for eco aspects of the build.

"Being clear on why you want something in your new home, rather just what you want, makes a big difference to deciding what's best. Visiting the show is a great way to understand which option will work best for you.

"The time that it will take. A self build/renovation project is a big undertaking and takes a lot of time. Getting advice early really helps as, with so many options available, it's easy to go round in circles and not make decisions.

"The best way to save money is to invest time early on making sure a project plan is in place. Making changes to plans later on in a project can be really costly, especially after breaking ground."

The National Self Build and Renovation Show takes place between Friday 27 and Sunday 29 January, pre-book your tickets now and save ?12 per person.
