Swindon student athlete through to National Finals

Abbey Park School is celebrating the many sporting achievements of their pupils, including Douglas Kirby, who has qualified for the National Schools Cross Country Finals.

Douglas Kirby and Lewis Parker, who both attend Abbey Park School, represented Wiltshire at the Schools SW Cross Country championships in Newquay, Cornwall on Saturday 1 February. 

Douglas Kirby - Junior Boys (Years 8 & 9) - Came 17th overall in the South-West region and was placed 5th from the Wiltshire team (5th out of the squad of 10) which means he has qualified to go to the National Schools Cross Country Finals on March 15 in Yorkshire.

Lewis Parker - Minor Boys (Year 7) - Came 40th Overall in the South-West and was placed 3rd from the Wilshire team (squad of 10).

In football student Zachary Dobbs has been selected to play for the Wiltshire School Boys U16 football team this season. The team has been very successful and has made it through to the quarter-finals of the ESFA Inter Counties School Cup. They are currently unbeaten in the league and have their next league game against Gloucester on Wednesday February 5. 

Students Esme Corcoran and Ava Griffiths have also been selected for the Wiltshire School Girls U16 football team this season. They had a very close game against Devon at the weekend, who are the best in the country, and drew 3-3.
