Lawn Manor Academy pupils are proving that it’s not always a ‘hard knock life’ when they open this year’s show-stopping performance of the musical Annie.
With performances on 10 and 11 July, the cast is made up of pupils from across Years 7 to 11 who will be showcasing their impressive singing and dancing skills.
Annie has been a sell-out show on Broadway and the West End since the 1970s and tells the story of Annie, an orphan, and her search for her parents, ultimately finding a new home with billionaire Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks.
Head of Expressive Arts at Lawn Manor Academy, Dave Jones, said: “This year’s production is set to be fantastic and we’ve got a great cast of budding stars who will rival the best professional shows.”
Annie will be played by Year 8 pupil Makanaka, who is joined by Year 11 pupil Eva as Miss Hannigan and Logan, who’s in Year 9, as Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks.
“We’ve got a really strong cast for this year’s show,” continued Dave. “They’ve been rehearsing hard over the last few weeks and the stage has been alive with their enthusiasm and how they’ve all embraced their roles.
“We have such a lot of very talented singers and dancers here at Lawn Manor Academy. Performing such a well-known and loved musical like Annie is somewhat ambitious for a school performance, but we know that each night will be a great evening of entertainment for everyone.”
Tickets are now on sale for the performances and are available directly from the school. For more information on Lawn Manor Academy, which is part of the Ascend Learning Trust, visit www.lawnmanor.org.
