Work on the school’s new outdoor learning environment took place over the Easter holidays, with the £500 given by Bellway used to buy resources and equipment for the area.

Bellway is building new homes at Ridgeway Park, off Marlborough Road in the village, just half a mile from the school in Wharf Road.

Andrew Wilson, Executive Headteacher at Wroughton Infant School, said: “Children across the country haven’t been able to spend much of this academic year in school, and as the Early Years curriculum has a big focus on outdoor learning, we are looking to create an outdoor learning environment for our Reception children for when they progress into Year 1.

“We hope to get this up and running so our current Year 1 cohort can also benefit from the resources. We have fenced off a grass area and had artificial turf laid to make it fit for use in all weathers.

“We’d like to thank Bellway for supporting the school and helping us deliver this stimulating outdoor space for the children to enjoy after a year of lockdown.”

Christel Hawkins, Sales Manager for Bellway South West, said: “As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we’re providing new homes. When we heard about Wroughton Infant School’s plans for a new outdoor area we really wanted to help in making it a reality for the pupils.

“We hope the money we’ve donated will help provide some of the resources needed to help the children make the most of the time they spend together in their new outdoor learning environment.”

Bellway is building a range of three and four-bedroom homes at Ridgeway Park, with the first properties set to be released for sale in the autumn.
