A team of volunteers from Nationwide spent a day at Bridlewood Primary school last summer clearing an area of overgrown woodland in the grounds.
The school’s Reception teacher and recently qualified ‘Forest School’ leader, Gaynor Simpson, was eager to create an outdoor space for learning for the whole school to enjoy as well as the forest school groups.
Gaynor contacted Nationwide who sent along a team. The team spent their day creating the teaching circle, tepee and ‘bug homes’ and clearing the pathway for a space for the children to explore.
The Nationwide team leader said: "We all really enjoyed ourselves and had a great time! We've all been saying this week how we are still beaming with pride and are delighted that we could make a difference. We really hope the children enjoy their new space."
