The Croft Primary School in Swindon has recently been rated ‘Outstanding’ in every category by Ofsted.

The primary school, which is part of The White Horse Federation, was praised for being a school where pupils “thrive” and where “staff care deeply” for all pupils. Ofsted also highlighted that “pupils, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), achieve exceptionally well” and are “exceedingly well prepared” for the next stage of their learning.

Inspectors noted that ‘Croftie’ values lie at the heart of the school and pupils feel safe because of the “excellent relationships” they build with their peers and the adults in the school. The report praises school leaders and staff for being “proactive and relentless” in ensuring that each and every pupil receives high-quality education and care.

Elaine Murphy, Headteacher at The Croft Primary School, said: “We are very proud to have received an ‘Outstanding’ rating in all areas and I am thrilled that this report recognises what it means to be a ‘Croftie’!

“This remarkable achievement reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of our entire school community - our staff, pupils and their parents and carers, and our governors. We will all continue to work tirelessly to provide the best possible educational experience for our children and to ensure we remain a school where every child thrives.”

Highlights from the report include:

  • Staff “skilfully adapt” their teaching to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Pupils follow a “rich and ambitious” curriculum which exceeds the breadth and depth of what is expected nationally.
  • Pupils “adore” reading for pleasure.
  • Staff take every opportunity to “enhance and ignite” pupils’ curiosity and thirst for learning.
  • Pupils’ behaviour is “exemplary” and pupils “celebrate differences” and understand that they should treat everyone with respect.
  • Pupils delight in the many clubs and trips the school offers.

Dr Dan Nicholls, CEO of The White Horse Federation, said: “This glowing report reflects just how remarkable and amazing The Croft Primary School is. I am delighted that all pupils are achieving so highly and that they love their school and being part of the school community as a Croftie.

“Congratulations to all our colleagues, pupils, parents, carers and everyone at The Croft Primary School. We should all be very proud of this achievement; it is very well deserved."
