Staff at The Dorcan Academy are celebrating their 'Good' Ofsted rating they received across all categories for the first time.
The Dorcan Academy says it is delighted to announce that following a visit from Ofsted, prior to the summer holidays, the academy has been judged 'Good' in all categories.
This is the first time in the school’s history that it has been judged 'Good' and it is said to be a testament to the passion, hard work, dedication and resilience of staff.
Seven years ago the school was judged 'Inadequate'. At its last inspection Ofsted ruled Dorcan 'Required Improvement' but its Leadership category was judged 'Good.'
This year has seen an all around 'Good' rating from the aforementioned education-based Government department.
A spokesperson from the school said: "You might ask how we have done it?! The answer is: ‘There is no single action, no gigantic program, no miracle scenario, no killer invention, and no lucky break’. We took time to get the right people on the bus in the right seats.
"And then, we began to ‘turn the wheel’. (Igor Stravinsky). We worked hard and we maintained the unwavering belief that our students can do anything that we are able to teach them and that there is no ceiling to their achievement."
"For us, Good still isn’t good enough. Our destination is outstanding which we have planned to achieve for our next visit in four years’ time.
"We wish to thank all our staff, students, parents, trustees and friends who have believed in us and supported us on our journey. This is a remarkable achievement which will have a significant impact on future generations of children who attend The Dorcan Academy."
The Dorcan Academy is located on St Paul's Dr, Covingham, Swindon, SN3 5DA.
