East Wichel Community Primary School and Nursery achieves 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating

Staff at East Wichel Community Primary School & Nursery are proud to announce that the school has received outstanding ratings in every category in its latest Ofsted inspection.

The Ofsted report is said to state that children thrive at East Wichel and that the behaviour is impeccable.

Parents say that their children ‘flourish’ and the Ofsted inspectors were said to have praised leader’s tenacity and their vision for excellence that is being fully realised at every level by the dedicated and committed staff team.

Staff said they found the recent report also commended the East Wichel curriculum for being rich, carefully sequenced, and well thought-through.

Inspectors added that 'the teaching is ambitious with learning adapted appropriately so that all pupils succeed, getting the strongest possible start - right from Nursery.'

The inspection team were said to have been impressed with the school's approach to reading, which they deemed to go ‘beyond the teaching of reading’ and noted it is 'a big part of the school's ethos as it helps to impart deep knowledge of the world and develop empathy in pupils.'

During the inspection, the children were said to have spoken articulately and with understanding about the importance of mental health which is a huge focus at the school.  Schoolchildren were said to have been 'vociferous about wanting to make a difference in the world', and the Ofsted report noted that the pupils leave the school 'as knowledgeable, compassionate and resilient young people.'
