Lydiard Tregoze Primary School has raised £1,940.50 to spend on reading material, that Usborne Books have raised to almost £3,000.
Towards the end of February - continuing into the start of March - Lydiard Tregoze Primary School ran a sponsored read challenge.
The fundraising activity ran from Monday 28 February - Friday 4 March as part of World Book Week.
Children had to spend a small amount of time each day reading to themselves, to others, or being read to, and were sponsored for every minute they read at home and at school.
As an extra incentive the child who read for the most minutes in each class won a £10 book voucher to spend on Usborne books.
The project was organised in conjunction with Usborne partner Sophie Pitt, and all the money raised went towards brand new books for the school.
The Swindon primary school raised £1940.50 with its Ready Steady Read challenge.
The school set a target for £600, which they met, and surpassed by a huge amount.
Reading Lead at Lydiard Tregoze Primary, Selena Sahota, said: "We used some of the money raised to promote World Book Week with a fantastic author event from Serena Patel. She is the popular author of the Anisha Accidental Detective book series, which our school love at the minute!
"Taking away the money spent on our author event and all the winning orders this total stood at £1730.50.
"We have been completely blown away by all the support and contributions from our parents. They have really helped to enhance our reading resources and the children are very excited to dive into our new collection of books."
Usborne also promised to raise the school's fundraising total by 60% if it met its target of £600. This meant Lydiard Tregoze Primary received another £1036.85. The grand total came in at £2767.35 for the school to spend on Usborne books.
The primary school's mountainous order of books (£2,730 worth) arrived recently and the children at the primary school can now enjoy the rewards from all the fundraising.
