New College Swindon will host a Higher Education and Institute of Technology Open Evening on Thursday, 18 November.

It will be held at the college’s North Star campus from 5-7pm, and visitors will be able to find out more about courses, meet lecturers and view facilities.

A spokesperson said: "Whether people are considering a degree straight after studying A Levels or BTECs, or seeking to change or enhance their career, New College has a range of higher education courses available.

"These include HNC/Ds, foundation degrees and Bachelor degrees across subjects as diverse as creative arts, childcare, performing arts, health, construction and engineering, business, computing and IT, media, travel and tourism, sport, and public services. For those who would like to study at a higher level, but may not have the right qualifications, there are also Access courses equivalent to A Levels, to bridge the gap between existing qualifications and a degree course.

"Our new Swindon and Wiltshire Institute of Technology - an exciting collaboration between ourselves, partner universities and employers – also offers higher education courses and Higher Apprenticeships across engineering and manufacturing, digital and computing, science and health, creative and media and business.

"For working adults and employers, there are currently free digital skills courses at Level 4 on offer through the Institute. These are short, online courses designed to address skills gaps and roles in the digital sector and include Cyber Security, Cloud Management, Agile Methodology, DevOps, and Data Analysis."

The spokesperson added: "The benefits of studying locally are many - the convenience of being able to fit study around your work and family without moving away; tuition fees are more affordable than most universities and students save money on living costs whilst experiencing small class sizes, lots of support and high-quality teaching.

"Many people who have never thought that higher education was for them have successfully achieved qualifications at New College and enhanced their careers."
