Young stars of STEM invited to sample life at Swindon school

Year 5 pupils in Swindon who aspire to be scientists, mathematicians, designers and engineers are invited to apply for a new specialist stream at Nova Hreod Academy.

They are promised a keen focus on their areas of interest.

Pupils starting secondary school in September 2022 are can now apply to join the Catalyst STEM Stream.

Particularly suitable for talented young people with a keen interest in the STEM subjects, Catalyst will allow them to benefit from a more in-depth and fast paced STEM curriculum.

They will have opportunities to work with local employers and universities, accessing support in achieving their aspirations.

The supporting extra-curricular programme will further develop their interests in line with Nova’s values of Drive, Integrity, Scholarship and Contribution, whilst also offering opportunities for them to engage in wider school activities, clubs and teams.

Catalyst will open to pupils starting Year 7 in September 2022, with 30 places being available in its first year. 

In order to apply for Catalyst, pupils must accept a place at Nova Hreod Academy and then complete an assessment and interview process. 

An introduction evening for Year 5 parents will he held on   Thursday, 1 July.  

Taster sessions for Year 5 pupils will be held on 10 July, 25 September and 4 December.
