Residents of a care home were welcomed on a visit to Royal Wootton Bassett Academy.
The visit was organised by the Sixth Form Community Committee and brought guests from Ridgeway, Marsh Farm Manor and Miranda House, three of the local care homes, for a morning filled with laughter, friendship, kindness and plenty of cake.
An academy spokesperson said: "Led by the wonderful Emily and Clichy, with fantastic support from fellow committee members and students across both Year 12 and Year 13, the event was an overwhelming success – and we genuinely couldn't be prouder of our Sixth Form community!
"Our students truly went above and beyond. From baking an incredible selection of homemade cakes, cookies biscuits and loaves, to donating prizes for a free raffle for our guests, every little detail was carefully considered.
"With music playing gently in the background, our students sat alongside their visitors, sharing stories, asking questions, laughing together and learning about one another.
"It was one of those mornings that reminds you what a community is really all about. And don't just take our word for it!"
The guests were very impressed. One of them, Liz Reeves, described the gathering as excellent and very friendly, while John Clark said it made a nice change and was very welcoming.
Gerry Thorne said: "I enjoyed the reception and everybody was lovely. I enjoyed the cake and tea and would love to come back again."
Len Hayward said: "Thank you for a very well organised and enjoyable morning."
A Miranda House spokesperson said: "Thank you for a wonderful welcoming morning. Our residents really enjoyed it and were impressed with the hospitality and all the effort involved."
A Marsh Farm Manor spokesperson said: "Our residents were so excited about being invited to this coffee morning. We have enjoyed every minute. It was so well organised and fun."
The Academy spokesperson said: "Perhaps the greatest compliment came as our guests were preparing to leave. Many told us they wished they could have stayed longer and immediately wanted to know when they could come back!
"In fact, the invitations have already started coming our way! We've been asked to visit for a game of bingo and even to bring along a piano for a big Christmas carol singalong. Well, the ball is already rolling, and plans are underway for our next community get-together!
"To Emily, Clichy, our Community Committee and every single student who baked, donated, organised, served, welcomed or simply sat down for a conversation - thank you!
"You have made a real difference to someone's day, and that is something worth celebrating.
"We couldn't be prouder of our RWBA Sixth Form."
