Pupils at Swindon schools have been spending time learning about ‘Time’ during British Science Week.

At Bridlewood primary school pupils have been exploring how light can be used to measure time and how it passes through translucent materials.

Other experiments included measuring the gasses in fizzy drinks to see how long it takes for the gas to fill a balloon and how long boiling water takes to cool down.

Winners of the Bridlewood British Science Week ‘Time’ themed poster competition came from Reception and Years 1 to 6.

Every class carried out science-based projects linked to exploring time during the week.

At Red Oaks primary school, each class spent an afternoon during Science Week focusing on Time.

Activities included planting seeds and observing how they germinate and grow over time, investigating the school buildings and surrounding environment and thinking about how it could improve over time.

Children have also been making sundials and learning how to tell the time using the sun.

Pupils were also asked to think about stereotypes in science and draw pictures of what they think a scientist looks like.
