A delegation of teachers from South Korea has visited The Park Academies Trust (TPAT) schools in Swindon.

They observed how the trust integrates technology throughout its curriculum and school operations, and the visit showcased TPAT’s commitment to using IT to enhance teaching, learning, and school management.
Gemma Piper, CEO of The Park Academies Trust, said: "The visit from the South Korean delegation was a great opportunity to showcase how we are using IT to support our students and staff.
"From Swindon to Seoul, as teachers, we all have the same aim to give our students the best facilities and access to technology.”
The visit included:
- A welcome from pupils, including greeting the visitors in Korean, and a presentation highlighting the trust's mission to empower students and raise aspirations. The presentation also noted the history of the area and the school's role in the community.
- A tour of the school during lesson time allowed the visitors to see how IT is used in the classroom.
- An in-depth session with the IT & Computing subject leader focused on TPAT's comprehensive IT curriculum and the various technologies used across all subjects.
Key aspects of TPAT’s approach were highlighted:
- Curriculum Integration: IT is embedded throughout the curriculum and taught as a subject. The curriculum is designed to ensure students develop a strong foundation in IT at all stages of their education.
- Technology for Learning: A wide array of technologies, including interactive whiteboards, educational software, and online resources, are used to enhance learning and engage students. Online systems support pupils' personal studies through homework and auto-marked assessments.
- AI in Leadership: TPAT uses AI to support leadership tasks and management systems, streamlining administrative processes and enabling a focus on teaching and learning.
- Teacher Development: The school uses technology to record lessons for live coaching or later review to support teacher development and capture best practices.
- Parental Engagement: IT is used to communicate with parents, keeping them informed and involved in their children’s education.
The Korean visitors were particularly interested in how IT is used within the curriculum. The visit included a presentation of the technology and systems used.
TPAT also provided a handout detailing the main technologies used in their schools.
The visit concluded with a Q&A session with the headteachers.
