Swindon’s A-Level students are celebrating what the borough council has praised as excellent results.
Cllr Tim Swinyard, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Levelling Up, Communities and Place, congratulated the students for overcoming pandemic challenges
A total of 834 students have received their results, and of the 2,108 exam entries, 98.3 per cent were awarded a pass at grades A* to E.
A total of 31.2 percent of A-Level entries were awarded grade A* or A. The number of entries awarded A* to B was 56.5 per cent.
Results this year were based on teacher-assessed grades due to the ongoing pandemic, and comparisons to last year’s results cannot be made.
Cllr Tim Swinyard, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Levelling Up, Communities and Place, said: “Well done to everyone on their results today. I know it’s been a tough, unprecedented time, with two years of disrupted lessons but you’ve all done amazingly well to come through the other end and this is a significant achievement.
“I’d like to thank all the teachers, support staff, governors, parents and guardians for all their hard work in making the school year as easy as possible for all students across the town.
“I know there will be some of you who didn’t get the results you wanted, but don’t be disheartened.
“There is lots of advice and support available via the National Careers Service for anyone who would like some help about what to do next.
“I wish everyone the best of luck in the future, whether that’s further education or a first step into employment.”
