Swindon Borough Council is encouraging anyone who has been thinking about fostering, or would like to know more information, to get in touch with its fostering team.

There are several different types of fostering, including long-term placements, emergency placements or regular respite breaks. The council is looking for foster families for a range of children, from babies to teenagers, who need support and guidance to help them to develop.

The council currently has around 70 mainstream foster carers but is looking for more.

Councillor Mary Martin, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “We’re extremely grateful to all our foster carers for the positive difference they make to the lives of children and young people in Swindon, by giving them a loving home and the right support.

“Whether you’ve only just started considering fostering, or have been thinking about it for a long time, please get in touch with our fostering team who can provide lots of information about what to expect, what we’ll give you in return, and the steps involved.”

Further information about becoming a foster carer and how to get in touch with the team can also be found at www.swindon.gov.uk/fostering or by calling the team on 07917 503447.
