Melksham fire station on Semington Road, will be hosting an open day on Wednesday 25 October, as part of Wiltshire Council’s two week long Family Learning Festival.

Visitors to the station will be able to find out more about life as a firefighter, look around the fire station, see the equipment on the fire engine and try on some fire kit. Under eights will be able to try out our mini fire kits and visitors will be able to play fire safety giant Jenga and skittles.

The crew will be on hand to answer questions as well as offer fire safety advice developed to help keep your family and home safe.

The Family Learning Festival kicks off this Saturday (14 October) at Melksham Library, with further events taken place across the town until Sunday 29 October.

Learning as a family can help us to become confident, lifelong learners with all the benefits that brings – from better health to being happier. Family learning supports children to achieve at school. It can be transformative, helping us to find new passions and interests, and realise our aspirations through further learning.

During the open day on 25 October, Melksham fire station will be hosting a Wiltshire Scrapstore arts and crafts workshop and will stage the finale for the Family Adventure Trail that starts at Melksham Library.
