Swindon brothers James, 10, and Daniel, 9, from Stratton hit the back of the net last month after Everton F.C. invited them to do a charity run around Goodison Park.

Since October last year the boys have been raising money for British Heart Foundation and Prostate Cancer UK.

Each week the brothers have been running 10k in memory of their grandads - two they lost to heart disease, and one to prostate cancer.

Before a family trip to Liverpool the boys' mother, Kelly Kingsbeer, contacted the club to see if they would allow the boys to complete part of their run in the stadium. Much to their delight Everton F.C. invited James and Daniel to do laps around the pitch before Everton played against rival team Liverpool, provided the boys with Everton football kits, and had an interview in front of fans.

Daniel met his favourite player, Everton's Jordan Pickford, and they were both thrilled to meet Samuel Allardyce "Big Sam". The boys also got to meet Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp and football star Wayne Rooney, and received donations throughout the day from football fans.

Kelly Kingsbeer said: "Because of what the boys are doing we find ourselves in situations we never thought we'd be in - organising events and seeing our sons give a speech outside Everton's stadium about their fundraising. It's definitely taken us out of our comfort zone. But Everton was really something else - it'll be hard to top, but we'll certainly try."

The boys' father, Martin Kingsbeer, added: "I was just star struck to be honest, but I am very proud of both of them - it takes up a lot of their free time when they could be out being boys and just playing. But they just get on with it."

Kelly said: "Everyone's been really supportive at our events with local company's and people getting involved - the support and experience has really built up the boys' confidence, and given them great people skills."

James and Daniel will continue to run 10k a week until October this year. This month the Kingsbeers will be hosting a Battleground Summer Slam Down fitness competition, 23 June at Battleground Fitness. James and Daniel have raised nearly £3,000 and have run more than 360 miles.

As well as running around Everton stadium James and Daniel have been continually driving their fundraising efforts forward with local events. Last month the boys and their family hosted a football tournament at PlayFootball, - raising £600 - as well as collection buckets at local supermarkets including Co-op and charity fundraisers.

Coming up Saturday 7 July the Kingsbeers will be hosting 'Triple G’s Summer Bash' at the polish Community Centre, which will include a live DJ, local band Barking Chickens, a raffle, and a buffet. Future events are also in the pipeline including the boys' final run in October, where they are hoping members of the community and budding runners and athletes will join them for the finale.
