Members of Swindon’s Nepalese community gathered to celebrate their new year in a colourful evening of dance, food and traditional dress.
The event, on Friday 13 April at the Punjabi Community Centre, marked the start of the year 2075 according to the Vikram Samvat solar calendar, which has been used officially in Nepal since 1958.
Among the invited guests were Swindon Mayor Maureen Penny.
The event was organised Wiltshire Nepalese association, which was formed in 2006, provides a range of events and services for its members who are mainly ex-Gurkhas.
