Lydiard Park was ablaze of pink when hundreds of women, girls and some males ran 5k or 10k routes around the park to raise money for the work of Cancer Research UK.
Michelle Leighton, CRC area event manager, said the fundraising campaign, now in its twenty first year, was as popular as ever, with strong enthusiastic support from the people of Swindon. "Everyone is here for a reason,” she said. “They know someone with cancer, or perhaps are receiving treatment, or have been given the all clear. All the participants are fully behind our drive to find ways to improve treatments and provide greater hope.
“The research we are doing is changing things. Twenty years ago only a quarter of people diagnosed with cancer survived. Now it's 50 per cent. The huge fundraising support from so many people is making a huge difference. Without them the breakthroughs we are making would not have been possible. But there is still a long way to go."
Richard Wintle of Calyx was at Lydiard Park to record the achievements of the hundreds who took part in the Race for Life. Who do you know in his collection of images below?
