GALLERY: Wiltshire will be taking its wild side to Devizes

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust will be bringing the countryside to the heart of Devizes next weekend with the 'Country Comes to Town' family event.

The Trust will be taking over Devizes Market Square from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 23 September for their free annual event.

Staff from the Trust will be showcasing their activities and projects including Building Bridges, Wild Connections and the Repair Academy. Visitors will be able to take part in Forest School taster sessions as well as learn how to identify local wildlife.

There’s the opportunity to meet some furry friends from the Lakeside Care Farm and the Trust’s farming team will be bringing along some of their rare breed Belted Galloway cows and calves and Herdwick sheep, which are used to keep some of the county’s most beautiful meadows in pristine condition.

Adults and children alike will be able to tap into their creative side and have a go at country crafts and natural art thanks to the Trust’s Wild Connections and education teams and meet our partners such as ‘Meadow in My Garden’, ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Oak and Furrows’.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s Fundraising Engagement Officer, Tamsin Whinton said “This is a great opportunity to experience the work of the Trust in a fun and interactive way.

"We’ve got lots of knowledgeable and passionate staff and volunteers who can answer your wildlife questions and give advice on a whole range of nature-related subjects.

"Free entry and free activities aim to make wildlife accessible to all, so it’s a great day out for the whole family.”

The Trust will also be holding their AGM and annual Volunteer Awards at St Andrew’s Church in Devizes on the same day.
