Group admits affray after fight outside Swindon pub

A Wroughton woman and three Swindon men have pleaded guilty to affray after a woman and three men were assaulted in Swindon town centre.

The incident happened near The Savoy Pub at the top of Regent Street in the early hours of 8 May 2016.

The female victim was attacked by another woman, from a group of people, who stamped on the victim's head.  A group of men (friends of the woman perpetrator) then became involved and assaulted three other men.

At Swindon Crown Court on Friday 27 January 2017 all four pleaded guilty to affray:

Jake Skilton (22) from Queens Drive, Swindon was sentenced to:

Community sentence: 140 hours of unpaid work to be carried out before 27 January 2018

Must participate in the thinking skills programme.

Must undertake rehabilitation activities for a maximum of 20 days.

To pay compensation of £250 to his victim.

To pay a victim surcharge of £85.

Monique Rawlings (18) from Wharf Road, Wroughton was sentenced to:

Six months imprisonment - suspended for 12 months.

Must undertake rehabilitation activities for a maximum of 40 days - suspended.

To pay compensation of £250 to her victim.

To pay a victim surcharge of £115.

Jamie Skilton (18) from Queens Drive, Swindon was sentenced to:

Community sentence: 140 hours of unpaid work to be carried out before 27 January 2018.

To pay compensation of £250 to victim.

To pay a victim surcharge of £85.

George Sparkes-Corless (20) from Roche Close, Swindon was sentenced to: 

Community sentence: 100 hours of unpaid work to be carried out before 27 January 2018

Must undertake rehabilitation activities for a maximum of 15 days. 

To pay compensation of £150 to victim.

To pay a victim surcharge of £85.

Following sentencing, PC Charlotte Upton said:  "This particular incident, which was recorded on CCTV, records a significant and sustained, un-provoked attack by a female on another teenage female with a sickening level of violence.

"Also, the other attacks on innocent bystanders were particularly cowardly by the males involved.

"Violence of any kind will not be tolerated by Wiltshire Police in Swindon town centre or anywhere. This should be a place where people can enjoy the weekend without the fear of being assaulted."
