Year 11 pupils and their parents are being invited to New College this month for a High Flyers' presentation evening.

The High Flyers’ programme is open to students who are likely to excel in GCSE exams and achieve six or more grade A/7s. This month New College will be hosting a High Flyers' presentation evening for prospective students Wedndesday 19 Septmeber.

The scheme includes fast-track course options and expert assistance with UCAS applications, as well as sessions delivered by university and employer representatives. It also offers dedicated one-to-one tutor coaching and support, the opportunity to apply for one of the High Flyers’ Scholarships and the opportunity to become involved in initiatives run by the Villiers Park Educational Trust (eligibility criteria may apply).

The special presentation event will offer more information about the opportunities available as part of this scheme and details about the support offered for Oxbridge and top university applications. The event is at 6.15pm on Weds 19 September, with presentations starting at 6.30pm, and lasting about one hour.

New College saw fantastic results in summer 2018, over 40% of all A Level grades were A*-B and 63 students achieved a minimum of three grades at A*-B. At BTEC 58% of students achieved Distinctions in the Extended Level Diploma. Over 500 students each year go on to university or HE destinations such as Bath, Birmingham, Oxbridge, Warwick, Nottingham, Cardiff and Bristol.

High Flyer Ethan is moving on to his second year of study at New College this September. He said: “The High Flyers’ programme helped me to gain a place on the Access to Bristol University scheme, which then progressed on to me gaining an offer to study Politics and International Relations next year. The guidance and support of my lecturers at New College meant I was able to achieve the best AS results I could.”

Those who are interested in attending the event will need to visit the New College website to register. http://www.newcollege.ac.uk/learn-with-us/school-leavers/high-flyers

Places are very limited and it is expected to be a popular event, so it is recommended that ticket registration is done at the earliest convenience or before 5pm on Monday September 17.
