How to get a clearer picture of what you want in life

Many of us tend to simply get on with life without considering the bigger picture, especially once we’re in the routine of having a job, a mortgage, a family to look after. It’s sometimes hard to make sense of what it’s all about - we’re so caught up in the process of living day to day.

But if you take some time to think about your overall life vision and the dreams that you have, it’s so much easier to then work out how you’re going to achieve those ambitions. Try the following ideas to help you move from simply existing to really living.

Tune Into What Your Sub-Conscious Wants

To gain clarity on what you’re doing in life and where your real desires lie, a psychic reading can often prove very helpful. A psychic reading can be easily carried out over the phone or online and can help you look at your general life direction. It can be particularly helpful when you are wrestling with a specific problem or decision which you feel like you can't solve yourself.

While the reader isn’t there to give you all the answers, what they can do is to provide an objective view on your situation and allow you to understand what potential consequences certain decisions might have. What a reading often does is help a person express their previously unspoken hopes for the future. Although you might be concentrating on the future, a reading with a psychic or clairvoyant can also make sense of how past decisions have had an effect on your life journey so far.

Meditation

Meditation is another way to gain clearer thinking. It can be used to break negative thought processes and help you overcome bad habits or behaviour patterns. When you’ve achieved the potential to empty your mind of everyday anxieties, it becomes easier to work out what’s most important to you and help decide what bigger decisions in life to take.

You might choose to read a book on meditation and start practising at home. However, many people would say a meditation group is better for them - and this is often a good option if you find it hard to stay motivated. Some people find that signing up to a course increases their commitment - if you don’t turn up, others will be wondering where you are. Once you're there, you’ll enjoy the benefits of meditation and may even make a few friends along the way. As an example, the Swindon Chan Meditation Group meets at The Friend’s Meeting House on Eastcott Hill every Monday evening from 7.30pm. Novice meditators are welcomed.

Yoga Classes

Some don’t like the idea of meditation per se, in which case a yoga class might be a better choice. When doing yoga, there’s a lot of emphasis on breathing - which helps to focus the mind in itself - and following the steps to adopt different yoga poses. In concentrating on the yoga positions and breathing, you actually end up achieving a meditative state and your mind clears of day to day stresses. In Swindon there are a number of local yoga classes. At Lower Shaw Farm, for instance, teachers offer a variety of different level yoga classes. Try the Yoga For All classes on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.

Get Away From It All

Sometimes the best way to clear your head is to take yourself off on holiday. Of course, it’s not always practical to just book a week away, but if you have the time and the budget to do it, it will give you plenty of thinking time. But even an overnight break can do the trick, especially if you head off somewhere quiet where you can go for a long hike or ramble. As you enjoy the fresh air and exercise and take in the scenery, you’ll find that solutions to knotty problems that you’ve been tussling with may suddenly come to you.

In Swindon, you’re never too far from beautiful countryside, but just driving a couple of hours will take you somewhere completely different. Head to Ludlow, the gateway to the Shropshire Hills, or down to Weymouth in Dorset, where the Jurassic coastal path stretches out in either direction.

See if any of these suggestions can help you clear your mind, so that you can begin to visualise what you really want to achieve in life. Don’t expect it to happen all at once, but know that a little persistence will soon pay off, and what’s most important to you will become apparent.
