Fancy having a go at the civilised game of croquet?

Swindon Croquet Club, which is based at Moredon Playing Fields, is inviting newcomers to try their hand at the game as part of National Croquet Day on 4 June.  The lawns will be open from 1-3pm if you would like to come and try your hand at this enjoyable game. The only requirement is that you wear flat shoes.

To mark the start of the season the club took part in a Croquet Association Charity Tournament match, playing host to Kington Langley and raising £120 for chosen charity Parkinson’s UK.

Swindon fields teams in four different croquet leagues.  Its High Handicap Golf Croquet team were in action on 21 April hosting Cheltenham, who were top of the league last year. The match was closely fought with Swindon narrowly losing out to Cheltenham 10-9. Two weeks later Kington Langley were the opponents, again at home, on this occasion Swindon won 14-6.

The Open Handicap Golf Croquet team played their first game of the season away to Beckford where they were narrowly beaten 11-9.
