Lethbridge Primary School have suspended the licence of the firm running their after school and breakfast clubs.

The move, which was announced on the school’s website this morning, comes after education watchdog OFSTED suspended Activ8’s licence after finding shortcomings with safeguarding and welfare standards.

Yesterday, Lethbridge school staff stepped in to look after the children in the place of Active8 employees.

Headteacher Lisa Mayes said: “My first concern was to ensure that those children due to be looked after by Activ8 after school were safe and able to attend an after school provision. Due to the goodwill and flexibility of our staff we were able to do that.

“We have been able to secure a short term solution for the rest of this term to ensure that families, who rely on before and after school childcare, are able to access provision on our school site.

“Children will still be able to attend before and after school provision and this will be managed by the school. I know how important it is for working parents to know that their childcare arrangements are secure and reliable and that is why, as a school, we are working hard to ensure there is minimal disruption to your usual routines.

“As a result of Ofsted’s decision, we have decided to terminate our lettings contract with Activ8.”

Ofsted suspended the firm’s licence for six week from July 5.
