Members of the public are encouraged to enjoy Avebury's Manor, Henge and stone circles, and the Alexander Keiller Museum this Spring, alongside a programme of special events.

The National Trust team have announced its Avebury events schedule for March & April.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the following:

  • Journey to Avebury by Stanley Schtinter - 4 - 26 March

Stanley Schtinter’s remake of Derek Jarman’s 1971 film recreates each shot from the original, charting a walking journey through the Wiltshire landscape to Avebury. Screened in the atmospheric threshing barn. This event is open during the site's usual opening hours, and is free.

  • Mother's Day crafts in the Barn 18 - 19 March

This event will run from 11am - 3pm in the Barn at Avebury. Children will be able to pick up a craft pack from the barn to be creative and make a Mother’s Day card. A spokesperson said: "Take inspiration from the beautiful spring flowers coming into bloom and surprise your mum, grandma or someone special with your very own handmade card." This event costs £2 per craft pack.

  • Easter trail (Follow the trail and win a chocolate prize)

This event will run from 1 - 16 April, between 10am and 4pm. A spokesperson said: "Fun and creative activities for children while exploring Avebury Manor Garden. Families can compete at an apple toss, follow wildlife clues and find out what’s growing in the garden." Families will be able to pick up their trail in the barn and collect a chocolate prize at the end. An allergen free option is available. The event costs £3 per trail.

  • Easter crafts: Make an Easter Wishing Hoop

This event will run from 1 - 9 April, from 11am - 3pm. Children will be able to pick up a craft pack from the barn and have a go at making a wishing hoop to hang in their homes. Organisers say these hoops are used to capture wishes and dreams for the year ahead. This craft activity is aimed at those aged 4-10 (small children may need some help). Each craft pack costs £3.

  • Easter crafts: Making a Noughts and Crosses Game

This event will run from 10 - 16 April, from 11am - 3pm. Families are invited to come along and make their very own set of noughts and crosses, inspired by nature. Children can use the wooden discs to craft miniature insects to take home and play the game. This craft is aimed at those aged between 4-10 (small children may need some help). Each craft pack costs £3.

  • Exhibition: Sentinels of Stone by Tony Galuidi

This free event will run from 22 April - 11 June, and will be open during the site's normal opening hours. Sentinels of Stone is an exhibition of 35 paintings of standing stones by Tony Galuidi, painted in acrylic on canvas, and displayed in the threshing barn.

  • Avebury Trust10: 10k trail run

This event will run on 23 April, from 9am - 11am and is free to enter. A spokesperson describes the event: "Enjoy a challenging 10k trail run with stunning views across the wider Avebury landscape." Registration for the Avebury Trust will start from 8.30am at the Coach house (on Avebury high street, next to the Red Lion pub). The Trust10 run will begin at 9am.

  • Avebury Landscape Walk: Waden Hill

This event will run on 23 April from 1.30pm - 4pm. The walk is priced at £8 per person. A spokesperson explains: "Members of the public will be able to explore some of the Neolithic monuments which make up this ancient and intriguing landscape. The volunteer guide will help you to unlock the past by explaining the history of the landscape as you walk." Booking essential go to www.nationaltrust.org.uk/avebury
