Members of the public are encouraged to enjoy Avebury's Manor, Henge and stone circles, and the Alexander Keiller Museum this Spring, alongside a programme of special events.
The National Trust team have announced its Avebury events schedule for March & April.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the following:
- Journey to Avebury by Stanley Schtinter - 4 - 26 March
Stanley Schtinter’s remake of Derek Jarman’s 1971 film recreates each shot from the original, charting a walking journey through the Wiltshire landscape to Avebury. Screened in the atmospheric threshing barn. This event is open during the site's usual opening hours, and is free.
- Mother's Day crafts in the Barn 18 - 19 March
This event will run from 11am - 3pm in the Barn at Avebury. Children will be able to pick up a craft pack from the barn to be creative and make a Mother’s Day card. A spokesperson said: "Take inspiration from the beautiful spring flowers coming into bloom and surprise your mum, grandma or someone special with your very own handmade card." This event costs £2 per craft pack.
- Easter trail (Follow the trail and win a chocolate prize)
This event will run from 1 - 16 April, between 10am and 4pm. A spokesperson said: "Fun and creative activities for children while exploring Avebury Manor Garden. Families can compete at an apple toss, follow wildlife clues and find out what’s growing in the garden." Families will be able to pick up their trail in the barn and collect a chocolate prize at the end. An allergen free option is available. The event costs £3 per trail.
- Easter crafts: Make an Easter Wishing Hoop
This event will run from 1 - 9 April, from 11am - 3pm. Children will be able to pick up a craft pack from the barn and have a go at making a wishing hoop to hang in their homes. Each craft pack costs £3.
