A new series of community music sessions at an Old Town landmark has been announced.

The 'Bandstand Sessions' are billed as relaxed, family-friendly afternoons of disco and house music in the Town Gardens Bandstand, with a simple aim of bringing people together while supporting local charities.

One.  of the organisers, Matt Jones, said: "The project has grown out of a group of friends, all local to Old Town, who used to DJ together in the 90s and early 2000s.

"We’ve reconnected over the past few years and have been putting on smaller charity events in pubs and local venues.

"This bandstand event is a bit of a step up for us, taking what’s worked well indoors and bringing it out into a more open, community setting.

"Our first event is planned for Saturday 6 June, with a small number of Swindon-based charities joining us on the day."

The first free session is set to run from 1pm to 8.30pm.
