Swindon Recital Series has announced a performance at the Wyvern Theatre on Wednesday 19 February from 1.05pm.
Both halves of the 20th Century are covered in what is billed as an unusual programme.
A spokesperson said: "Hungarian Béla Bartók was one of a handful of early 20th century composers who recognised how indigenous folk music could fuel a new sort of progressive concert music.
"His Sonata for two Pianos and Percussion, written in 1937, is a work of intriguing sonority that straddles the boundaries of both chamber and orchestral music.
"American Steve Reich says of his 2013 composition, Quartet for two pianos and two vibraphones, that it ‘...demands a high level of ensemble virtuosity and is one of the most complex I have composed.’
"Clare Toomer and Paul Turner are the pianists, whilst Sacha Johnson and Alastair Marshallsay manage the whole percussion section, including vibraphones and timpani."
All adult tickets are £9 (including venue levy). Students aged 15-18 pay £3.50 and accompanied children aged 14 and under will be admitted free.
Swindon Recital Series was founded 31 years ago by Paul Turner. The Recital Series is committed to providing world-class chamber music in the Swindon area by presenting regular concerts of chamber music given by professional musicians.
The series takes place between September and April each year at various venues in and around Swindon, including the Wyvern Theatre and the Arts Centre.
