Cat microchip deadline coming closer

There is still time for owners to have their cats microchipped before the deadline next month.

From 10 June, it will be mandatory to have cats microchipped from 20 weeks old.

To get them chipped, people should contact their vet or, if the cat is a recent addition to the family, get them chipped at the same time they are spayed or neutered.

It is also recommended to have this done before they go outside for the first time.

If an owner has already had their cat chipped, it’s vital to keep the details up to date to ensure they can be contacted if their pet goes missing.

Many cats are, unfortunately, not reunited with their owners due to micro-chip details not being updated.
