The Haydon Wick Parish Council Magical Christmas Carnival will be held on Friday 6 December from 4-8pm.

The carnival team will transform Rose Walk, Old Blunsdon Road, SN25 1QL for the event, which will feature a spectacular light parade, festive entertainment and local artisans.

Following the success of its Summer Extravaganza, the parish council has created a winter celebration that promises to bring holiday magic to residents' doorsteps.

The centrepiece of the carnival will be a mesmerising parade of 100 illuminated umbrellas, uniquely decorated by local community groups and schools, generously supported by Specsavers Swindon & Wootton Bassett, Affleck Electrical, and Coles Scaffolding.

Visitors can explore a carefully-curated mini craft market showcasing local traders and their festive wares. The air will be filled with seasonal melodies as the North Swindon Good Afternoon Choir performs beloved carols, while talented duo Sasha and Bryony return to enchant audiences with their Christmas repertoire.

The carnival will feature an array of magical entertainment including stilt walkers, who will tower above the festivities spreading joy, and special appearances by Father Christmas himself. Adding to the charm, a Christmas donkey and pony will delight visitors of all ages, creating perfect photo opportunities for families.

The Christmas Carnival has been brought forward by an hour due to warnings of severe weather over the weekend.

Revised Schedule:

- Main event: 4:00 PM to 7:00pm (brought forward by one hour)

- Light parade assembly: 4:15pm

- Light parade start: 4:30pm

A spokesperson for the event said: “Despite these adjustments, we're still planning a fantastic evening with street performances and the funfair. These changes will help us make the most of our typical British weather!”

Councillor Vinay Manro, Chair of the Parish said: "This Christmas Carnival is more than just an event – it's a celebration of community spirit and the magic that makes Haydon Wick special.

"We're bringing together local talent, creativity, and festive cheer to create an unforgettable experience for everyone."

The free community event welcomes all residents and visitors to join in the festivities.
