In preparation for the much-anticipated Ghost: The Musical, the staff at Swindon Theatres channelled their inner Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore by testing out their pottery skills during a hands-on pot throwing workshop at Eastcott Studios, stepping away from their usual roles and exploring the art of pot throwing and creating their own masterpieces.
Eastcott Studios known for their regular hands-on pottery classes, welcomed the Swindon Theatres team with open arms guiding them through the clay shaping process and use of the Potters Wheel. Despite a few amusing mishaps along the way (and some very questionable shapes), the team created some fantastic pieces and embraced the artistic challenge.
‘We’re always looking for fun and engaging ways to bring the spirit of our upcoming productions to life’ said Kate Seager, Venue Marketing Executive ‘What better way to prepare for Ghost the Musical than by having our staff try their hand at pottery – just like in one of the most iconic scenes from the film.’
The Studios offer a range of pot throwing, hand building, pottery painting, sculpture and raku firing workshops and courses all suitable for experienced makers or beginners alike.
The movie Ghost is one of cinema’s biggest all-time hits. Starring the late Patrick Swayze alongside Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, it was the highest grossing film of 1990 and won an Oscar for screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin who has adapted his screenplay for this musical. The international smash hit returns to the stage, featuring The Righteous Brothers’ ‘Unchained Melody’ alongside many more terrific songs co-written by Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart.
