Swindon’s own ‘Silverback’ Saime Sahin is set to challenge Bristol’s ‘Stallion’ Chris Bronson for the British Kingdom Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship this Saturday.

The highly anticipated match will take place at the Deanery Theatre in Wichelstowe on  Saturday 7 September, during Global Takeover 2024.

Saime faces a formidable opponent in Chris Bronson, who will not be alone. He will be accompanied by his mentor, wrestling legend Doug Williams. Williams is renowned for his championship reigns in TNA Wrestling, Ring of Honour (ROH), New Japan Pro Wrestling, National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), and other prestigious organisations worldwide.

Williams has just returned from Germany after attending WWE Smackdown and Premium Live Event, Bash in Berlin.

Saime Sahin’s passion for wrestling began at the tender age of six, and by nine, he was already training in the sport.

“I started watching WWE as a young kid, idolising Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, and Rey Mysterio,” said Sahin. “At nine, I began learning to wrestle at the 4FW (now British Kingdom Pro Wrestling) training school. The school has produced much of the top talent we see on the UK scene today. Unfortunately, Chris Bronson was also part of the class. We’ve never gotten on for whatever reason. I don’t think he was best pleased he had to travel to Swindon to train, but Bristol just didn’t have the training Swindon had to offer.”

Over the years, Sahin has had the opportunity to wrestle on the same shows as the stars he grew up watching, including Santino Marella, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and Rey Mysterio. He has also stepped into the ring with some of his childhood heroes, most recently teaming up with The Brian Kendrick.

“That’s the great thing about wrestling,” Sahin remarked. “I grew up watching Smackdown as The Brian Kendrick became one half of what was then the longest reigning WWE Tag Team champions of all time, and last month I tagged with him for the win. Getting to work alongside your heroes is fantastic, but I will be completely alone against Bronson and his mentor. That’s when I’ll really need the support of the fans, to help me claim the championship and bring it home to Swindon.”

Also on the card, the ‘Italian Stallion’ Antonio De Luca will face off against ‘The English Lion’ Eddie Ryan. During recent visits to the UK, De Luca has made disparaging remarks about the country, especially its wrestling fans, who have not taken kindly to his comments. Eddie Ryan is unlikely to tolerate De Luca’s provocations for long.
