Ahead of World Environment Day (5th June 2023), Barratt Bristol and Barratt David Wilson Homes South West are highlighting the energy efficient features inside their properties across Wiltshire that can help to tackle rising costs while being kinder to the planet.

This year is the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day, an annual event organised the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), which brings people together from across the globe to help protect the Earth.

Homes at Orchards Rise, Orchards View and Wichel Fields at Wichelstowe, Hunters Wood in Melksham and Birds Marsh View in Chippenham include a range of energy-efficient features including argon-filled double-glazing as standard, to let heat in and keep cold out.  External cavity walls are also built using the latest insulation, which incorporates heat-reflective, low-emissive technology.

Properties also use the latest water and energy saving appliances, which means the water-efficient kitchen and bathroom fittings could reduce consumption by up to 26% per day per person, compared to the national average reported by Water UK.

All Barratt homes are designed to be up to 63% more energy-efficient which could save consumers £3,100 each year on bills compared to an existing property.

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director for Barratt Bristol, said: “Our new homes are more insulated and energy efficient than older properties, so not only does this save our customers on their energy bills, there are also huge benefits to the environment, too.”

Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “We have a clear responsibility to help the environment. Our homes use less water and need less energy for heating than older properties, helping customers save money and be more environmentally friendly.”

Barratt Homes and Barratt David Wilson Homes South West carefully choose the location of all their developments to provide residents with lots of green, open space, as well as easy access to public transport for sustainable travel.
