The producers of Legally Blonde the Musical are on the hunt for a dog to star in the show when it comes to the Wyvern Theatre in August.
Auditions will he held for the role of Bruiser - traditionally the Chihuahua owned by lead character and law student Elle Woods.
Based on the 2001 American comedy of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, this musical version will include 150 Young People from in and around Swindon with a professional Creative Team.
Below is a list of what the Legally Blonde team are looking for in a ‘Bruiser’:
- A small dog – famously Bruiser is normally a Chihuahua, but other small breeds are encouraged to apply
- Temperament – your dog should be relaxed, good with people and enjoy a good fuss, it will be working alongside young people, so being relaxed around children is essential
- Responsive to commands – your dog should respond to ‘come here’, ‘sit’ and so on rather than just wandering off and doing its own thing
- Tricks – judges aren’t necessarily expecting tricks, but if your dog has any, they would love to see them. They will get five minutes to show off, and if their skills are good enough, they could end up in the show!
Experience is said not to be essential, but if an individual's dog has some form of stage experience, it will be viewed as a bonus.
A spokesperson for the show said: "Even the most confident of dogs can suddenly be affected by the lights, the band, and the huge round of applause they are bound to receive on their big entrance!"
Legally Blonde will run from 18-20 August, with the star-dog being needed from the 13 August for rehearsals.
Auditions will be held at Swindon Arts Centre on Sunday 3 July between 12 and 5pm.
