Lotmead Pick Your Own in Wanborough will open during the Easter holidays for the first time in its history.

Although there won’t be fruit or vegetables to pick this early in the season, the attraction will open its play area, small animal enclosure and nature walk from Saturday, 9 April until Sunday, 24 April, from 9.30am to 5.00pm each day, with last entry at 4.30pm.

This will be the first time Lotmead has opened its gates since it won the prestigious national title of Pick Your Own of the Year at the Farm Retail Association’s Farm Retail Awards earlier this month.

No booking is required, but visitors are encouraged to follow Lotmead on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with any rain-related changes to opening dates and times.

The owner of Lotmead PYO, Norman Parry, said: “We are delighted to be opening for the Easter holidays for the first time and to showcase why we are the best PYO in the country.

“It is too early in the season for the fruit and veg but there is still plenty to do with our play area and the strawberry thief play trail, which received the addition of the jam lorry last year.  Our animals are looking forward to meeting visitors and the spring weather makes it a great time to walk the nature trail down to the bird hide at the lake.

"We look forward to welcoming families to Lotmead again for 2022 for a great day out.”

Lotmead is a family-run Pick Your Own with a wooden 'strawberry thief' play area with walkways, platforms and climbing frames. Lotmead also has enclosures that allow children to get up close to animals including pygmy goats, alpacas, pigs, chickens and guinea pigs.

Visitors can take a one-kilometre walk along the nature trail, which leads to a small lake and bird hide and sanctuary. The farm shop and café will also be open.

Prices for entry to the play area and animal enclosure are: Ages 0-2 free, 3-5 years £2.95, 6-16 years £6.95, Adults 16-65 years old £4.95, 65 years old and over £3.95.

Season tickets for Lotmead will become available in coming months when the farm opens fully for fruit and vegetable picking.
