Mary Parsons will be exhibiting her vibrant artwork as part of Swindon Open Studios 2024.
Specialising in colourful and architectural work, she loves unusual combinations and people often comment on her use of yellow.
Her exhibition will be at St Paul’s Church in Covingham, which she attended when she was young and made many happy memories, 11am-5pm, Saturdays 21 28 September, 2024.
Mary paints live in public whilst talking to people, something she began in order to be able to offer something that AI can’t - seeing creativity in action.
Her work includes an ongoing project with Prospect Hospice, painting in their beautiful garden. The hospice will be selling greetings cards based on one of her paintings.
She is an advocate for drawing on holidays, day trips, lunch breaks and at every opportunity, and is happy to share tips on art.
Mary paints in oils on location and is getting used to the practicalities of carrying wet paintings home.
Her first - and ongoing - art project in public is at Avebury Manor National Trust, where her presence can enhance the visitor’ experience. These paintings have documented the changing seasons against the beautiful backdrop of heritage architecture.
Mary says various opportunities this year have built up her confidence to take on any challenges, including painting Aldbourne Band on the village green in front of crowds, painting steam engines and model boats at Uffington Show and sketching Chippenham Morris whilst they were dancing.
