The National Self Build & Renovation Centre's doors have been closed for two months now, but they will be re-opening next month. The centre will be open to visitors from Wednesday 17 June.

As you'd expect, the centre, located just off the M4 at Junction 16, will be operating a little differently to ensure that you, along with exhibitors and the NSBRC team, are kept safe.  The team are finalising their new visitor guidelines explaining how you can enjoy a safe visit, and they'll be sharing this with you - along with their revised opening hours - soon.

In the meantime, NSBRC has been incredibly busy with their range of virtual events including Training Courses, Ask An Architect Consultations, Facebook Live Guided Tours and an incredibly successful Passivhaus Workshop.

A spokesman said: "Over a thousand people have joined NSBRC on various webinars and their social media channels have been buzzing with activity.

"It's been fantastic to be able to deliver information, inspiration and impartial advice using different online platforms and the feedback we've received tells us it's been appreciated while we have all been at home."

Courses include:

The NSBRC Guide to Finding Land and Appraising a Plot

This extensive, in-depth and informative course will delve deeper into the challenging world of plot hunting to give you the expert advice and knowledge you need to find, and determine the suitability of your ideal plot.

Delivered on Zoom, over three 2-hour modules, this online course is delivered by Potton’s Managing Director, Mark Stevenson.  All delegates receive a copy of the webinar recordings and access to an exclusive Helpdesk Live session.

The course begins on Tuesday 2nd June (11am - 1pm)

NSBRC are maintaining our reduced 'lockdown' prices and are anticipating this will be particularly popular - so please book early to avoid missing out!

Eco Workshop

NSBRC's Eco Workshops are one of the most popular events in the calendar.  To allow people to attend the next event they have moved the date to Saturday 27th June with elements live-streamed from the NSBRC.

This workshop will help you research the many options open to self-builders when building a high performance home or one that utilises natural materials. It will explore the pros and cons of each building system through a number of masterclass talks and live demonstrations.

The workshop will also cover the role that the self builder plays in the construction process, whether it be self project managing, package managing or using sub contractors – addressing the relative merits and drawbacks of each route.

Special 'Hybrid Event':  Elements of this workshop will be streamed online to enable anyone who is shielding, or unable to attend in person, to benefit from the information exhibitors and experts will be sharing.

Additional Course added due to demand:

Following the incredible success of our first virtual project management course earlier this month, we've added an additional date to our timetable to help meet demand.

Course starts: Wednesday
24 June (7pm-9pm)

This course is essential for anyone considering their first self build, home improvement, loft conversion or renovation project. Covering everything from budgeting, insurance and site management through to health & safety, snagging and VAT reclaim.
