Swindon's Revolution Performing Arts (RPA) announces it will now be offering regular dance classes for adults.

RPA says the Empowerment for Adults Heels Class, which is one of several adult classes to be launched this month, is all about being non-elitist, welcoming and having fun and a good laugh.

The joy of laughing and feeling welcomed in a non-judgemental environment does so much for people’s wellbeing and self-esteem, according to RPA founder Fi Da Silva Adams.

She said: “I love that our classes have an absolutely non-specific gender bias. No matter how you identify, you can come and feel fabulous dancing in heels – or not, darling!

“One of the best things about dancing is that, while you’re having fun moving to music and meeting new people, you’re getting all the health benefits of a good workout.”

According to NHS UK, regular dancing is said to be great for losing weight, maintaining strong bones, improving posture and muscle strength, increasing balance and co-ordination and beating stress. RPA adds that there is also evidence that regular dancing can improve heart health in older people.

Fi added: “One of the participants at our Monday Street Dance class described the classes as ‘MC Hammer meets French & Saunders’!

“It’s a great way to feel empowered, feel embraced for your unique qualities and feel great.”

The Empowerment for Adults Heels Class (Intermediate Level) for 18 years and over is held on Fridays from 8pm-9pm at Moredon Community Centre, 1 The Street, Swindon SN25 3ER.

RPA's adult class launch began with RPA Street Generation X (Beginner Level) for 18+ years at Even Swindon Community Centre, Jennings Street, Swindon and the RPA Sing Generation X (Beginner Level) for over 18s which takes place on Wednesdays at Holy Trinity Church, Ramleaze Drive, Shaw.

As well as The Empowerment Class, RPA also run Advanced Commercial & Street Classes for ages 16+, which are aimed at more advanced dancers with a background of previous dance training/experience, although adults are also welcome to attend.

These are held on Fridays from 7pm-8pm at Moredon Community Centre. For a list of all the classes, visit: https://revolutionpa.co.uk/rpa-classes-2021-all-welcome
