Savernake View Care Home in Marlborough has donated £165 to the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust charity, Brighter Futures for six Droplet Cups, which will be enough to supply an entire ward.
The Droplet Cup is an innovative device that makes it easier for patients to stay hydrated and easier for carers and health care professionals to detect if a patient isn’t drinking regularly enough.
They are particularly beneficial for those who need additional support to stay hydrated, such as people living with dementia or the effects of a stroke. Staying hydrated also means patients can get well sooner and reduce their length of stay in hospital.
Jane Leighton from Brighter Futures, said: “Brighter Futures is so grateful to Savernake View for their fabulous gift towards our Droplet Cup Appeal. The new Droplet Cups will help vulnerable patients stay hydrated and aid their recovery. This is a fantastic example of how local people can make a tangible difference and enhance care at the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.”
Sharon Villegas from Savernake View Care Home said: “We are very proud to be able to donate the cups to patients at the Great Western Hospitals who need that extra bit of support, and we will continue to support our local community and Brighter Futures, through our upcoming fundraising events and raffles.”
