The Ugly Duckling is this year's Christmas show from Swindon's Shoebox Theatre.

The theatre is based at the Health Hydro in Milton Road, and audiences will hear the story of Dotty the Duckling, who is not like her brothers and sisters. In fact, from the day she hatched from her enormous egg she always knew she was a little different from all the other ducklings.

“Why do all the other ducks quack when I love to honk?” she asks herself.

And: “Why are my feet soooo big?”

Wanting to learn more about the world outside her pond and find out who she really is, Dotty packs her bag and sets off on an epic adventure of discovery. With help from a menagerie of animals and a friendly farmer, can the ‘ugly’ duckling really find her true place?

Wrong Shoes and WhatNot Theatre are bringing to life what they promise will be a charming and inclusive reimagining of Hans Christian Andersen’s much-loved story, making for a twinkly and heart-warming family show for ages 2-plus.

It will run from 18 to 24 December, with performances at 11am and 1.30pm, and tickets cost £7.50. Runtime will be about 45 minutes.
