Swindon's Town Gardens will be lit up this Christmas with the introduction of a brand-new illuminated trail running throughout December

The trail will start its December run on Thursday 2 December.

A spokesperson for the event said: "State-of-the-art lighting effects will be installed throughout the Victorian Gardens, allowing visitors to wander through a magical backdrop of illuminated trees, discovering a trail of remarkable light art sculptures, low level soundscapes, interactive illuminations and a specially commissioned light show set in the historic Bowl."

In response to the challenging times people across the area have faced during the pandemic, South Swindon Parish Council says they wish to thank their residents for their efforts and ensure that the people of Swindon and surrounding areas have something positive to look forward to this festive season.

The council says it hopes the illuminated walk will bring light to the gardens at a time when they are traditionally not frequented.

The Enchanted Gardens Light Trail event will be supporting Brighter Futures, with £1 from every ticket sold being donated directly to the charity.

Tickets will only available from the council's ticketing partner, Skiddle at https://www.skiddle.com/groups/enchantedgardens/

Limited tickets will be available to buy on the day.
