Festive magic will be returning to Swindon’s STEAM Museum this month.

Following a sell-out event 12 months ago, this year’s Christmas at STEAM extravaganza will be held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December.

It promises to bring visitors the sights and sounds of the Christmas season.
Those attending will have the chance to buy festive treats and discover unique gift ideas as they step into a wonderland of over 55 artisan market stalls set among STEAM’s story-telling displays and famous GWR locomotives.
This year, STEAM will also welcome many new traders, as well as those who are firm favourites with regular visitors. Hand-crafted items on offer range from textile gifts, greeting cards, jewellery, and cosmetics, to home furnishings, artworks, Christmas confectionery and decorations.
Visitors will also get to enjoy live music and performances on the stage in the Great Western Hall as well as having the chance to enjoy the Christmas Café to help get them in the festive spirit.
Cllr Marina Strinkovsky, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Placemaking and Planning, said: “Christmas at STEAM is always a wonderful event at one of our most popular destinations.
“Not only do you get to enjoy the majesty of the trains on display, but you also get into the festive spirit with the Christmas market, music and Santa’s story time.
“If you’re looking for something festive to fill up your December weekend, Christmas at STEAM is the perfect event for you.”
Admission to Christmas at STEAM is priced at £3.50 for adults and £1 for children (three to 15 years). Under-threes go free. Tickets include both entry to the event and the museum.
Santa will be making an appearance over the weekend with the return of his popular story-time sessions. Children can enjoy a Christmas story and wrapped gift in an atmospheric fire-place setting.
Sessions cost £10 per child in addition to event admission. Up to two accompanying adults will be admitted free of charge, and do not need to purchase a Story Time ticket. Each session lasts approximately 20 minutes.
The STEAM Shop also has a great range of gifts for anyone looking for any Christmas presents, from GWR socks, books, stocking fillers and railway-themed souvenirs.
Visitors are encouraged to book tickets in advance online.
