Unfortunately the nights are now getting darker earlier and temperatures are set to plummet very soon, however, that’s not to say there aren’t lots of great things to do with kids this winter. Here is a look at three things you can take your kids to this over the next few months.

Football

If your kids are into football, then why not head across to the Country Ground where there is lots of football taking place around Christmas and New Year? The schedule is always packed around this period. The Robins have had a mixed start to the 2018/19 campaign and currently sit mid-table in League Two. Phil Brown, who took over the side in March, will be hoping his team can get some positive results under their belt over the next couple of months and make a charge towards the play-offs.

If it is top flight football you are looking for, you could book a trip into London to see one of the six Premier League clubs who play in the city. One of those is Arsenal who have been in terrific form recently after their slow start. The Gunners now have Premier League top 4 odds of 13/8, therefore it is all to play for Unai Emery’s men going into the busy winter schedule where they will be looking to secure a spot in the Champions League at the end of the season.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is one of the biggest Christmas events every year in London and 2018 is expected to be just as good. The event at Hyde Park opens on the 22nd of November and runs all the way through to the 6th January. There are lots of different attractions for kids to enjoy including an ice rink, workshops, shows and market stalls with fantastic food and drink. It is free to enter the site, however, there is a cost to take part in different events. If you have been before, many of the old favourite attractions are returning. You can pre-book now on the events to guarantee you get a spot on the day you want to visit.

Swindon Christmas Lights Switch-On

The annual Swindon Town Centre Christmas Lights Switch-On takes place on the 17th November and the headline act this year is British urban artist Tinchy Stryder. The event begins at 12pm and as ever there will be lots of free entertaining including a Santa’s Grotto.

The main event, which starts at 5pm, will be hosted by Heart radio’s Ben and Mel. They will be supported by children’s host Jack Frost. Along with the main act, The Voice Kids finalist from 2018, Lilia Slattery, will perform, Swindon’s very own Tap Attack from this year’s series of Britain’s Got Talent will appear, as well as Swindon’s Got Talent winner Nathaniel Parker.

At 6pm there is a grand firework display above the town centre which is always spectacular, while if you want to treat yourself to some nice food, there will be various stalls serving into the evening.

Enjoy all the great events during winter in Swindon and beyond.
